Alcohol is no ordinary commodity. For thousands of years, it has been a fixture of almost every human society – from social to religious and even medicinal purposes. Today, society has recognized the importance of limiting the access to this beneficial commodity so that it is not harmful to its members.
The key to ensuring the balance between access to and control of alcohol is the distributor. In Minnesota, there are 76 beer, wine and spirits distributors, which are all family-owned businesses.
We support and advocate for distributors, which provide good jobs to thousands of Minnesotans. Without them, alcohol beverage manufacturers could exert undue influence on the retail sale of alcohol – at a cost to consumers and society as a whole.
